History Made!

The Independence Mustangs Volleyball team made some school history on Nov. 5th, by qualifying to play in the Girls State Volleyball Tournament for the first time in school history. The Mustangs defeated the 15th ranked Center Point Urbana Stormin Pointers 3-1 in the Region 7 class 3A final. Scores of the sets were; 25-23 (Indee), 25-23 (Indee), 14-25 (CPU), 25-22 (Indee). Coach Joe Schmitz commented “It was a great night for our volleyball team and our community. The girls played incredibly hard, but with great poise and focus all night long. The girls just found ways to win the big points at crunch time. I’m so proud of each and everyone of them!”
The Mustangs now play MOC Floyd Valley in first round state competition. Next Tuesday, Nov. 12th at 6:00pm at US Cellular arena in Cedar Rapids. Great job Mustangs!
