Indee Falls to Top-Ranked Assumption Knights

Cedar Rapids – On October 26 the Mustang volleyball team traveled to Cedar Rapids Washington high school to take on the Assumption Davenport Knights in the Region 7 championship match. The Mustangs fell in a three-set sweep with scores of 17-25, 6-25, 20-25. The game leaders were Elle Greiner with 18 assists and 1 ace, Alexis Hearn with 9 kills, Allison Kleve with 1 block, and Katie Henkes with 14 digs.

Mustangs beat Panthers to advance to Region 7 final

Independence- On October 20, the Mustangs welcomed the Monticello Panthers to a semifinal volleyball match. The Mustangs would come out on top 3-1 with scores of 25-11, 26-24, 25-23, and 25-22. The stat leaders of the game were Elle Greiner with 47 assists, Katie Henkes with 15 kills, Allison Kleve with 3 blocks, Dakota Whitman with 17 digs, and Alexis Hearn with 5 aces. The Mustangs will travel to Cedar Rapids Washington to take on the Knights of Assumption Davenport for a chance to advance to state on Tuesday October 26, at 7:00 p.m.

Mustangs beat CPU Stormin’ Pointers to advance

Independence- On October 18 the CPU Stormin’ Pointers came to Independence to play the Mustangs in a Quarterfinal volleyball match. The Mustangs would come out victorious 3-1 with scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, and 25-10. The stat leaders of the game were Elle Greiner with 46 assists and 1 ace, Alexis Hearn with 5 kills and 4 blocks, and Dakota Whitman with 24 digs. The Mustangs will welcome the Monticello Panthers on October 20 to play in a semifinal match.

Indee Sweeps South Tama on Senior Night

Independence- The Independence Mustangs battled the Trojans of South Tama on Tuesday, September 28. The Mustangs won in a three-set sweep with scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-16. The game leaders were Alexis Hearn with 11 kills, Elle Greiner with 32 assists, Allison Kleve with 2 blocks, and Dakota Whitman with 11 digs. The Mustangs travel to Columbus Catholic to play in a Tournament on Saturday, October 2.

Mustangs beat Vikings

Vinton- The Independence Mustangs traveled to Vinton to take on the Vikings. The Mustangs came out on top in a 5 set match with scores being 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-21, and 15-10. The leaders of the game were Elle Greiner with 63 assists, Alexis Hearn with 23 kills, Dakota Whitman with 21 digs, and Madison Ristvedt with 4 blocks. The Mustangs play at home in their homecoming game on Tuesday, September 28th against the South Tama County Trojans.

Independence- The Independence Mustangs hosted Decorah in a volleyball match on September, 16th. The Mustangs took 3 straight sets in a sweep over the Vikings with scores being 25-19, 25-16, and 25-21. The game leaders were Elle Greiner with 31 assists, Alexis Hearn with 9 kills, Dakota Whitman and Alexis Hearn with 12 digs, Allison Kleve and Alexis Hearn with 2 blocks, and Alexis Hearn with 3 ace serves. During the match, Ben Hupke interrupted to congratulate Senior, Elle Greiner, on her 2,000th assist. The Mustangs will travel to Manchester to play in a tournament on Saturday, September 18th.

Independence – The Independence Mustangs faced off against the Raiders of Williamsburg in a volleyball match on Tuesday, September 7th. Independence took the win in a 3 set sweep with scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-13. The game leaders were Elle Greiner with 31 assists, Alexis Hearn with 13 kills and 3 blocks, Dakota Whitman with 21 digs, and Katie Henkes with 1 ace. The Mustangs will travel to Clear Creek-Amana to take on the Clippers in a tough match on September 14th.
