Moffatt Signs with Missouri State

Dylan Moffatt signed today to swim with Missouri State next year. Moffatt is a senior who specializes in mid-distance to distance freestyle. He won the Iowa high school state title in the 500 free in both his freshman and sophomore years, setting the state record in the latter with 4:27.77. As a junior, he was runner-up in the both 500 free (4:31.97) and 200 IM (1:52.14) and contributed to the 5th-place 200 medley relay (24.13 leadoff backstroke) and 7th-place 400 free relay (46.52 anchor).

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.97
  • 500 free – 4:27.77
  • 1000 free – 9:17.21
  • 1650 free – 15:27.61

 

He told Swimming World:

“I choose Missouri State because when I was on campus, I really felt like part of the family. I’m excited to call Missouri State my home for the next 4 years. Go Bears!!”

State Champ – Dylan Moffatt

Congratulations to Dylan Moffatt on his win at the boys state s meet on Saturday in the 500 Freestyle! This is the second year in a row for Dylan winning this event. He set a new state record this year 4.27.77 and cut almost 10 seconds from his previous time in his race today. Way to go Dylan!! Dylan also received 4th place in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.12. For more highlights catch the clip on KCRG TV9 News

Dylan wasn’t the only Mustang attending the state swim meet, Mustang Will Sill also attended as a relay alternate.

Moffatt Qualifies for State in Swimming

Congratulations to Dylan Moffatt for qualifying for the state swim meet. Dylan qualified in the following swimming events: 200 Free; 500 Free; 200 Free relay; 400 Free relay.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys’ State High School Swimming Meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 12:30 PM at the University of Iowa’s Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC).

Dylan Moffatt Named to Tiger Hall of Fame!

Story Update: 10/25/17: Dylan was officially inducted into the Cedar Falls Hall of Fame for his swimming accomplishments. Congratulations Dylan!

Independence’s Dylan Moffatt has been named to the Tiger Sports Hall of Fame for swimming! Dylan will be recognized at the Cedar Falls Homecoming football game on Friday, September 29 at the UNI Dome.

Congratulations Dylan! Your recognition is well deserved!

Boys Pre-Season Swimming Meeting

The boys pre-season parent/swimmer meeting will be Thursday, September 7 at 6:00 pm at Pizza Ranch on University Avenue in Cedar Falls.  At this meeting we will choose options for team suits and take orders for the first order of  suits, discuss the poster theme and talk about open volunteer positions.  Our new coach Jordan Wessels will also be invited so you have the opportunity to meet him before the season starts in November.

Moffatt Finishes Season on a High Note

March 2, 2017, (Independence, IA) – Dylan Moffat has completed the swimming season on a high note. At the state swimming meet in February, Dylan swam his best race and won the 500 yard freestyle in 4:32.24. His time is the seventh fastest recorded time in that race. In addition to the 500 yard freestyle, Dylan also swam in the 200 meter freestyle, finishing in 5th place, the 200 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 15th place and the 400 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 12th place.

After swimming well at the state swim meet, Moffatt was also named an Elite Pick for the All-Iowa Boy’s Swimming Team. The athletes will be honored at an awards ceremony in June at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

This is the first year Independence Community School District (ICSD) has partaken in sharing swimming with Cedar Falls. As part of the agreement, any ICSD students that were interested in signing up for competitive swimming attended practices and meets as part of the Cedar Falls swimming and diving teams.

Athletic Director Justin Putz states, “One of our goals as an activities department has been to continue to provide our students with more quality opportunities for participation in things that they are passionate about. Sharing a swimming program with Cedar Falls High School has allowed us to join a quality program to allow our students an opportunity to swim competitively with a high school team. This first year sharing program with Cedar Falls has gone well and we hope to continue to provide this opportunity for our students.”

Dylan Moffatt Named State Champ

A huge congratulations goes out to Dylan Moffatt who was named State Champ in the 500 meter Freestyle! Dylan also came in 5th in the 200 meter Freestyle at the state swim meet this last weekend! Way to go Dylan!

Dylan Moffat qualified for the state swim meet in 3 events on Saturday. He qualified in the 500 freestyle with the fastest time in the state, 200 freestyle, 5th fastest time in the 400 freestyle relay. The Cedar Falls team ended up in 3rd place.
